Obituary for Donald T. Riegel

Donald T. Riegel, 87, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017, in his residence. He was the husband of Jean M. (Williamson) Riegel. They were married June 26, 1954 and celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Born in Shoemakersville, he was the son of the late Theodore L. and Irene (Sieger) Riegel. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Donald worked in Consumable Electrode Melting at Car-Tech for 32 and a half years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Kenhorst Fire Co. & Beneficial, and the American Legion. Donald and his wife Jean always loved traveling. They traveled to the four corners of the country together. He also enjoyed camping.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son: Barry L. husband of Stephanie L. (Wisser) Riegel, Hamburg; two grandchildren: Justin Riegel and Jennifer Wisser; and four great-grandchildren. Donald is also survived by two brothers: James Riegel, Shomakersville, and Dennis Riegel, Richmond Twp.; and a sister: Joanne (Riegel) Ernst, Upper Bern Twp. He was predeceased by a sister: Doris (Riegel) Walters.
Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Shoemakersville. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11:00 am in the funeral home. For online condolences, please visit www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com
