Obituary for Cynthia A. Read (Perrin)

Cynthia A. Read, 55 of Lake Wynonah, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016 in Hershey Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Edmund L. Read. They were married on July 30, 2010 and celebrated six years of marriage.
Born in Framingham, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late John O. Perrin and Catherine M. (Tobin) Bolles. Cindy was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. She had a distinguished career as a corrections officer, retiring from SCI Mahanoy as a lieutenant commissioned officer in 2012. Cindy was the Critical Incident Manager, training lieutenant, a former member of the Corrections Emergency Response Team, and a leading member of the Honor Guard at SCI Mahanoy. She taught and trained new lieutenants at the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Training Academy. She was the liaison for Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency (SCEMA) and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) to coordinate emergency preparedness on local and state levels. Cindy was an acting Captain at SCI Mahanoy for one year.
Cindy was very patriotic and was proud to have served her country for seven years.
Cindy loved vacations at the shore and spending quiet time at home with her family, dogs and cats.
Surviving in addition to her husband is her daughter: Caylee A. Mook, and her fiancé: Nickolas Steranko, Minersville; son: Jay D. Mook, II, fiancée of Amanda Milner, Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada; brothers: Douglas Perrin, husband of Jacqueline, Suffield, Connecticut; Kevin Bolles, Escondido, California; John O. Perrin, Jr.; Jeffrey W. Perrin; and three sisters: Donna Chouniere, wife of David, East Stroudsburg; Kathleen Gilbert, wife of Jeffrey, Ft. Myers, Florida; and Donna Quenneville, Schenectady, New York. Cindy is also survived by four step-daughters: Jessica L., wife of Gregory Ball, Lakewood, Florida; Megan E. Read, Philadelphia; and Kaylee A. Read, Schuylkill Haven; Courtney Miller, Forty-Fort; and two step-grandchildren: Justin and Leah Ball. She was predeceased by a brother: Mark E. Perrin.
A Celebration of Cindy’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Lake Wynonah Lodge , 406 Navajo Drive, Auburn, PA 17922, beginning at 11:00 am. Military honors will be presented at 12:00 noon at the Lake Wynonah Veteran’s Memorial at B Dock (this is within walking distance from the lodge).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sarcoma Foundation of America, 9899 Main Street, Suite 204, Damascus, MD 20872, in memory of Cynthia A. Read. Contributions will also be accepted at the celebration for a memorial for Cindy in Troy, New York.
