Obituary for Glenna E. Hix (Spatz)

Glenna E. Hix, 91, of Upper Bern Twp., passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp., where she resided. She was the wife Rae M. Hix, died January 15, 2013.
Born in Penn Twp., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mae (Balthaser) Spatz. She graduated from Penn-Bernville High School in 1941. Glenna was a member of St. Michael’s Church, Tilden Twp., where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and was a member of the choir. She was a member of Shartlesville Fire Company; Central Berks Fire Company and beneficial association, Centerport; Blue Mountain Senior Citizens; Shartlesville Grange No. 1837; and the Centerport Flower club.
Glenna is survived by seven sons: John M., husband of Donna (Cantore) Hix; Penn Twp.; Robert R., husband of Letecia (Cibina) Hix, Upper Bern Twp.; Gerald W. Hix, Upper Bern Twp.; Eugene L., husband of Debra (Stetzler) Hix, Upper Bern Twp.; Larry M. Hix, and Barry C. Hix, both of Missouri; and Terry L., husband of Kim (Boyer) Hix, Bethel; one daughter: Glenna F. (Hix), wife of Nevin A. Smith, Upper Bern Twp.; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a son-in-law: Glenn Reinert; and a brother: Harold husband of Barbara Spatz, Centre Twp. She was predeceased by a daughter: Lorraine M. (Hix) Reinert, died July 22, 2012; a granddaughter: Diane F. Smith; three brothers: William, Howard, and Walter Spatz; and one sister: Dorothy Spatz.
Services will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM from St. Michael’s Church, 529 St. Michael’s Rd., Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Michael’s Church Memorial Fund at the above address.
