Obituary for George E. Longacre Jr.

George E. Longacre, Jr., 72, of Shoemakersville, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Orwigsburg Center. He was the husband of Ruth A. (Kochel) Longacre.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late George E., Sr. and Mary (Mumma) Longacre. He was a graduate of Kutztown High School. George was a U.S.Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as an electrical foreman for the Hamburg Center until retiring on May 15, 2001. George was a life member of Union Fire Company No. 1, Hamburg; and Loyal Order of Moose #523, Hamburg. He enjoyed fishing and trains.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Toby M. Longacre, husband of Denise E. Longacre, Phoenix, Arizona; Tara K. (Longacre), wife of Brett V. Long, Hamburg; and Rachel Longacre, Reading; step-children: Elwood P. Wenrich, husband of Tammy Wenrich, Shoemakersville; and Lori A. (Wenrich), wife of Duane Epting, Hamburg; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. George was predeceased by a brother: David Longacre.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hillside SPCA, P.O. Box 233, 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville, PA 17901.
