Obituary for Margaret E. "Maggie" Moyer (Schappell)

Margaret E. Moyer, "Maggie", 95, formerly of Hamburg, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 in Hearthstone at Maidencreek where she resided. She was the wife of Arlan H. Moyer, who died on March 6, 1996, to whom she married December 27, 1941.
Born in Hamburg on March 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Clayton E. and Edna M. (Reppert) Schappell. Maggie was a 1939 graduate of Hamburg High School. She worked for forty-two years as a sewing machine operator for Windsor Knitting Mill, Hamburg, retiring in 1982. Maggie was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg, where she was a volunteer and Sunday School teacher for more than 25 years. She loved taking care of her family and her home. Maggie's family would like to thank the staff of Hearthstone at Maidencreek and Caring Hospice for the advice and care shown to her.
Maggie is survived by one son: A. Brian Moyer, Shoemakersville; one daughter: Barbara A. (Moyer), wife of Charles J. Spicuzzo, Milltown, New Jersey; two grandchildren: Shilpa L. (Moyer), wife of Adam N. Moser, Shoemakersville; and Casey D. Yoder, Milltown, New Jersey; and two great-grandsons: Ajay and Aron Moser. She was predeceased by a brother: Marvin C. Schappell.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Wednesday 10:00 to 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 99 Church Street, Hamburg, PA 19526.
