Obituary for Claire A. Strauss (Kauffman)

Claire A. Strauss, 89, formerly of Strausstown, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 in Kutztown Manor. She was the wife of Carl A. Strauss, who died July 4, 1996.
Born in Upper Tulpehocken Twp., she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Sallie (Bertram) Kauffman. Claire was a custodian at Christ Evangelical Free Church, Strausstown, for twenty-four years. She attended Glad Tidings Church, West Lawn. Claire was active in church. She enjoyed being a homemaker, gardening, baking, canning and making holiday and birthday dinners while she was still able.
Claire is survived by one son: Douglas C. Strauss, husband of Alice L. (Miller) Strauss, Greenfields; one daughter: Sherry A. (Strauss) Stine, wife of Ernest S. Stine, II, Blandon; four grandchildren: Jennifer (Stine) Mengel, wife of Matthew Mengel; Jonathan Stine, husband of Heather (Denatela) Stine; Timothy Strauss; and Nathan Strauss, husband of Nicole (Blankenbiller) Strauss; and five great-grandchildren: Ethan, Emily, Joseph, Julian, and Nolan. She was predeceased by one brother: George Kauffman; and two sisters: Mae (Kauffman) Bowen; and Rhea (Kauffman) Neiswender.
Services will be held on Friday at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Strausstown Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Thursday 7:00 to 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Berks Visiting Nurse Association - Hospice, 1170 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610.
