Obituary for Mark M. Seaman

Mark M. Seaman
Mark M. Seaman, 86, formerly of West Hamburg, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015 in Keystone Villa, Blandon, where he had resided since December 2014. He was the husband of Jean R. (Batdorf) Seaman, also of Keystone Villa. They were married for sixty-two years.
Mark was born April 18, 1929 in West Hamburg, Tilden Twp., Berks County. He was the son of the late Walter M. Seaman and Mamie E. (Miller) Seaman.
He was a 1947 graduate of Hamburg High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Mark worked for Met-Ed/GPU Energy from 1947 to 1994, when he retired. He also worked part-time for Peters Bros. Meat Market in Lenhartsville.
Mark is also survived by a brother, Ray P. Seaman, of Ontelaunee Twp., two nephews: Bruce Seaman and W. Mark Heiser; and four nieces: Dianne Seaman, LuAnn Seaman, Lorie Seaman, and Susan Courchesne. He was predeceased by a brother, Luke D. Seaman, of Hamburg, and also his beloved cat, Buffy III.
Mark was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp., and was very active there. He was a choir member, past council member, Sunday School teacher, and past Sunday School superintendent. Mark was a Past Master and 50-year member of Vaux Masonic Lodge #406, Hamburg.
He served on various positions in Tilden Township, including Auditor, Republican Committeeman, Vacancy Board Chairman, and the Board of Elections.
Mark was a member of Behler-Hein American Legion #637, Hamburg; Wagner-Good Post 216 V.F. W., Hamburg; Keystone Social Club; Hamburg Game Association; and Union Fire Company #1, Hamburg.
He enjoyed bowling and playing golf in years past. Mark would laugh and proudly say, "I was always the first one who got to hit the ball after we left the tee!" In recent years, he became interested in computers and endured many a lesson from his good friend, Mary Liber, whom he called, "Teach." Mark was her "Number One Student." As his illness took away his mobility, Mark was so glad to have his computer. It was his window to the world. Mark enjoyed going for Wednesday morning breakfast with his group of friends and also going every morning for breakfast as long as he could.
Jean would like to give special thanks to the staff and personnel at Keystone Villa and Caring Hospice Services. She would also like to thank Mary Liber and Marcia Scharadin for their help and caring support over the years.
Services will be held on on Friday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A visitation with the family will be held on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home.
