Laurie D. Smith Mort, 56, of Perry Twp., died Monday, May 5, 2014 in St. Joseph Medical Center where she was since Sunday. She was the wife of Robert C. Mort. They were married on August 27, 2011. Laurie was predeceased by her first husband Donald R. Smith, who died December 18, 2007.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of Marrietta J. (Stewart) Himmelberger, Hamburg; and the late Kenneth L. Himmelberger. Laurie first worked for Boscov's; and then owned and operated D & L Contractors with her husband Donald. She was a member and former office of the Hamburg Game Association; and a member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company. Laurie enjoyed traveling, Ham radio and going to Ham Fests with Robert.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are her children: Donald R. Smith, II; Jennifer Smith; and Linda Warbington; of Shoemakersville; Melissa M. Smith-Kleinginna and Dennis Kleinginna, also of Shoemakersville; Rodney D. Smith and Crystal Smith, Centerport; Candace L. (Smith) Schnitker, Exeter Twp.; Robert J. Mort and Niki Mort, Ocoee, Florida; Janell L. Mort, Fullerton, California; Kris Claypoole and Megan Claypoole, Auburn; and Jamison Kauffman, Hamburg. Laurie is also survived by nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two sisters: Mary A. Schmehl; and Sheila Phillips, both of Hamburg. She was predeceased by a brother: Leonard E. Stamm.
Services will be held on Friday at 7:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg (off street parking in rear). A viewing will be held on Friday 5:30 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg, PA 19526 to assist the family with final expenses.
