Obituary for Cynthia G. Wetmore (Wood)

Cynthia G. Wetmore, 85, of Windsor Twp., and formerly of Tilden Twp., passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in her residence. She was the wife of Kenneth P. Wetmore. They were married on July 31, 1947 and celebrated sixty-eight years of marriage.
Born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm and G. Burrl (Wood) Thurlow. Cynthia worked as a licensed practical nurse for the Laurel Center and Reading Rehab Hospital, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Hamburg Community Seventh-day Adventist Church, Tilden Twp. Cynthia was a charter member of the church and along with her husband Kenneth, participated in the building of the Hamburg Community Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was an active life-long church organist and pianist. Music was very much a part of her life. Cynthia and Kenneth spent their early years living in Coudersport, PA, Potter County.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons: Donald K. Wetmore, and his wife Susan; and Calvin R. Wetmore, and his wife Carol, all of Hendersonville, North Carolina; David A. Wetmore, and his wife Verna, Spokane, Washington; and Thomas E. Wetmore, and his wife Heidi, Silver Spring, Maryland; one daughter: Darlene "Dolly" F. (Wetmore), wife of Dr. Eric Sills, Lenhartsville, with whom Cynthia resided; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Cynthia is also survived by a son-in-law: Mike Surak, Hamburg; one brother: Malcolm Thurlow, Greenville, Tennessee; and one sister: Barbara Thurlow, Hendersonville, North Carolina.
Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at the Hamburg Community Seventh-day Adventist Church, 22 Willow Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the church Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday 10:00 to 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to Hamburg Community Seventh-day Adventist Church, for The Arise and Build Fund - Pottsville Project (please indicate this on the memo line).
